Skyline Drive – Shenandoah National Park

by on June 13th, 2013

On the way home from VA, we decided to take a side trip through the Shenandoah National Park on the Skyline Drive. If you ever get the opportunity, you need to take the time to cruise this roadway. There are 105 miles of scenic roadway with 75 overlooks and over 500 miles of hiking trails – if you are so inclined!!

We did take one hike to visit the Dark Hollow Falls, which was only a 1.4 mile round trip – but an extremely steep hike!! It was exhausting, but worth the effort!! Here are a few images from our visit to the Shenandoah National Park.

by on June 13th, 2013

Congratulations to Daniel Gilley (our grandson) on his graduation from Freedom High School! We were able to travel to VA and share in his special event. It was held in the Patriot Center at George Mason University – which is a really nice facility.

Daniel not only graduated with honors, he accomplished the extremely rare feat of achieving a PERFECT SCORE on his ACT exam!! He is off to attend Virginia Tech in the fall.

Pickett Chapel – The Roy Bailey African American History Center & Museum

by on May 23rd, 2013

On May 18, the Second Annual Heritage Peace Garden Celebration was held at Pickett Chapel in Lebanon, TN.

Pickett Chapel, the oldest red brick building since 1827 in Wilson County, is being restored. This is a historic building where slaves worshiped in the balcony and their masters on the ground level. After the Civil War, it became the first black church in Lebanon, in 1866.

As part of this process, the Master Gardeners in Wilson County, spent the day planting and restoring the grounds around this historic structure.

Also, along with the digging for planting, there was an archeological dig and study of artifacts uncovered by a professor and students of Archeology from MTSU.

The Pickett Chapel, on the National Register of Historic Places, will eventually become the new location of the Roy Bailey African American History Center & Museum.

Pack 495 Blue & Gold Banquet

by on April 24th, 2013

Had a great time last Saturday evening attending and photographing the Cub Scouts Pack 495 Blue and Gold Banquet. At the banquet, scouts received recognition and awards for their acheivements during the past year. In addition, they had a “Cake Auction” where parents and others created, baked and donated cakes to be auctioned as a fund raiser for future scout projects. The cakes really got creative – and tasty!! We also took the opportunity to create portraits of the scouts, both individual portraits and portraits of their “Dens”. Several folks also created family portraits. Here are a few of the images from that event.

WE’VE MOVED!!

by on April 7th, 2013

Hi everyone! I know it has been a while since the last post, but things have been happening at Image Creations Photography! The end of last year (2012) we relocated from Ohio to Lebanon, Tennessee. It was time to move a little further south, enjoy a milder climate and reestablish the photography business in Tennessee. We lived in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, during the late 80’s, so we kinda knew what we were moving back to. Lebanon is just a little north of Murfreesboro, and about 25 miles east of Nashville.

We are still getting settled in and are developing a new Photography web site and sorta reinventing the business.

Stay tuned for future posts – I will do a better job of keeping you up to date with what is happening.
